Recruiting Identities # Part 1 " 5 channels video installation.

An dutch official is selecting individuals, he is asking them questions, the only reaction after answering his questions is: accepted or, not accepted.

Based on the historical archive of the first selection procedure of the workers from Morocco by the Dutch authorities in 1969, this 5 channel video installation represents part 1 of 3 of art project which investigates the multiculturalism in the Netherlands.

The part 1 investigates in the past how the multiculturalism started by examining how the Moroccan culture became part of the Netherlands culture. This work shows that now day multiculturalism started with two words, Accepted, Not accepted. It explores through existing footage the way and criteria of the selection of some workers. It also shows that recruiting workers is also a recruiting identities, cultures, religion and the way of being.

This work is made for the Be[Coming dutch] project in VanAbbe Muesum Eindhoven.

Video wall & Video installation 2006-2007

The Dancer is based on a professional Belly –dance choreography, transformed into animation. The work explores the female mystique through an old Arabic choreographic movement, this concept  has lost nothing of its vitality by formulating it into the animation. But this formulation became more complex when the sound as part of the mystique explain the abstraction.

4 Channels Video installation 2006

Composed from different projections (3TVs / and a big screen) in each projection the image timing changes. The work itself is an illustration figure of a historical event that recounts the brutal and often repressed moment of human being. The unique use of cut out technique of the original photo is away to insert it into new timing.
